somerset carnival

Carnival in Somerset dates back 400 years and is one of the most spectacular free events today. It is the worlds largest illuminated winter carnival.

The floats are built and designed by dedicated carnival clubs who work relentlessly throughout the year. Many carts use up to 30,000 light bulbs and can be over 100 ft long. The floats stretch along a 2 mile procession and take 2 hours to pass a given point en route.
