The Beach

The Beach

The dog friendly beach is just a 400 meter walk from the property. The sandy beach is 7 miles long with Brean Down at one end and Burnham on Sea at the other.  Brean has the second largest tidal movement in the world, with the difference between high and low water being as much as 3/4 mile.

Brean itself is a popular holiday resort.  We are situated to the quieter end of the village but still within a one mile walking distance of the main attractions, including Brean Leisure Park, Brean Play and Brean Splash.


The property itself is situated adjacent too the medieval church of St Bridget, a small but beautiful grade II listed property that has been serving the local community since the 13th Century.

Brean Down

Brean Down is a National Trust property which is a 1.5 mile headland stretching out to sea.  There are a set of step steps (around 200) up the side of Brean Down which take you to the top for amazing views, including Weston-super-Mare on the far side.  

There is a National Trust car park, cafe and toilets at the bottom of the down.

The Brean Down Way Cycle Path (Route 33)

The Brean Down Way (Route 33 of the National Cycle Path) is a fantastic walking and cycle path linking Brean to Weston-super-Mare.

It is mostly traffic free, with the exception of Warren Road and Uphill Road, and is mainly level and flat, apart from a small rise at Walborough, making it accessible to families and novice cyclists alike.  Wheelchair and mobility scooters users are also often seen using the path.

The total stretch from Brean Down to Weston-super-Mare is approximately 8 miles long.  Brean Village Hall is approximately 200 meters from our property, and at this point joins the cycle path.  From here to the end of Brean Down is 3 miles, and in the opposite direction 3 miles to Uphill Marina or you can carry on for a further 2 miles to the grand Pier in Weston-super-Mare.

There is beautiful scenery along the way including the Brean Cross Sluice, crossing the River Axe, with its quirky fencing of the 'Great Bird Screen of Brean', designed to protect wading birds (particularly redshank) in the area, Uphil Marina and Walborough Nature Reserve.
